The Alpine Arc with its approximately 250.000 km² is one of the larges natural landscapes in Europe. It hosts a variety of rare plants as well as animals species and offers home to and recreation for millions of people. In order to maintain this biodiversity in the long run, and alpine-wide networking of the differente habitats, also across state borders, is indispensable.

One of this important habitats is the Nationalpark Berchtesgaden in Bavaria. He contains different types of biospheres and rare and endangered plants. This types of habitats and plants are threatened by difference aspekts. Areas cutting, Areas using ore the wrong tourism are serious problems in these sensitive areas. Fore example the area around the Königssee are visited by more than 600.000 tourists, wich will not always cautious correctly. One of the most visited place are the Saletalm on the southern end of the Königssee. These area contain some litle fields with rare and endangered plants. Grazing with cows and the high frequented tourism, threaten this valuable and unique filds.

These problems in the Nationalpark Berchtesgaden, especially in the area around the Königssee, are exemplary for most different an sensitive areas in Germany, Europe and the whole world.

I´m native fom Bavaria and the alps are a part of my home. Every time I can I make a trip in the mountans in order to walking, biking or skiing.

I study landscape architecture on the FH-Weihenstephan in Freising and finished it with the Bachelor of Engineering in the year 2013. As a landscape planner my assignement is to save the nature, although plants, animals, habitats and cultural landscape.

The area around the Saletalm is cultivate by more than 100 year. Since 1978 it is a part of the "Alpennationalpark Berchtesgaden" and will visited every year by thousand of tourists. Today the area basicly used by grazing with cows and tourism.

Summary and conclusion

To save the nature for a long time it is important to defent the last remains of swamps in the area. After comparing the difference consequences of the tourism and the grazing i come to the conclution that there is a negative effect to the nature in the area, but these effects are tolerable and acceptable.
