CIPRA International and Climate Change

Concept Map

The Concept map shows the relationship between climate change and the Alps. CIPRA International Commission for the Protection of the Alps (Commission Internationale pour la Protection des Alpes) wants to adapt and mitigate the climate in the Alpine regions. We can see how this change affects the human life and the different systems, natural and constructed, where it takes place. CIPRA detects problems and offers solutions through its work. In this way the good actions will possibly be the key in the future.

Organized Working in the Alps against Climate Change

Since 1952, CIPRA is an autonomous non-governmental, non-profit umbrella organization. Its goal is focused to the protection and the sustainable development of the Alps. This commission represents 8 Alpine states, people and organizations, located in Italy, Germany, France, Austria, Liechtenstein, Slovenia, Switzerland and Monaco.

CIPRA considers the Alps like a reservoir for vital resources: water, forests and biodiversity of species.

Climate protection and climate change adaptation activities in the Alps are collected and analyzed by CIPRA. These measures are aimed to be sustainable to the nature, the environment, the economy and society. CIPRA warns the public to those measures that are harmful on nature, the environment, social cohesion and the economy.

As an alpine-wide network CIPRA communicates information worldwide, exerts pressure on policy makers, industry and authorities. For this reason, CIPRA develops projects that reflect their way of thinking and acting.
