Landscape design for climate change adaptation on the Dutch coast
Concept Map
Discussion
New generation of landscape architects has to deal with new problems regarding climate changes. Changing of sea level, average temperatures, precipitation etc., are forcing us to pay attention and to think more about climate changes while doing projects in landscape arhitecture. Also we have to think more in terms of „Long term planning“. But we are not alone, experts from other sciences, such as ecologists, hydrologists, civil engineers etc., are our partners and they can help us to deal better with climate changes. Also we have to try „building with nature concept“ while trying to connect nature, engineering and society in our projects. The landscape approach is increasingly relevant in a complex world as it integrates environmental, societal and cultural dimensions. Also it's desirable to include active participation of local community and stakeholders from the beginning stage of the projects.
