Short Introduction to the Area of Study
Bruckenwasen is an area between railway, the river Neckar and a highway. This area includes a small residential area and a park, the park has been created from a horticultural show. Today it is used principally for recreation and retreat for the residents and used as a destination for the weekend. It also serves as a venue for the city. At the park there are several clubs, including a dog club and an environmental center. The residents come from all social classes and age classes and thus have different expectations of the "common garden".
This space is about 6,000m2.

As already mentioned, there are two different groups who stay there, residents and visitors.
in the warmer months, the residents meet in the afternoon and evening in front of the houses. The children play, the adults talk to each other, friendships are made and all enjoyed the free time.
I noticed that the park is less used by the residents especially the children. the playground and open space areas in the park invite to romp and play. instead they prefer the place in front of the houses to stay and play. the place is small with concrete slabs and it is not really attractive for children. I asked some people why they don´t use the park for playing and they answered that they haven´t an eye for their children in the park and tat´s why the children must stay in front of the houses. i didn´get an answer apbout my question, why they don´t go with their kids in the park if there alre also outside.
The main routes of the residents are the paths, which lead out from the terrain, over the bridge to downtown, to the parking places or to the paths to the other small towns. the residentials, who lives in downtown, bring their children in the kindergarten here. Pupils use thebike paths between the small towns to go to school and back home.
The visitors come during the warmer months to recover, to get a distraction from everyday life. The visitors are people who live in surrounding villages and they rarely have a longer journey. There are many families with children who are attracted to things like the model railway of the train club or the playground. many come by car, other by bike.
on sundays with a good weahter, there are regular gatherings of people on the playground, in the beer garden, at the model trains, the environment center and the dog club. the paths are crowded. everywhere you see people who walk or lay on the lawn. during the week, it is a little quieter, but also in the evening hours many people are still here and want to enjoy the sun for some hours. The boccia field is mainly used by the local boccia club. if you also want to play, it´s hard when you don´t be a member of this club. The club has a right of use this field and only if they don´t play, the others may.

- Which measures would be necessary for enhancing the awareness for the area?
- Students are free to choose their method.
