Also, creating green „urban pockets“ and green walls in the city, with creating big green zones around Amsterdam will have positive effect on reducing the heat island effect. 	Given the fact that in the future sea levels will rise (the only uncertainty is the pace and the maximum level) and the fact that dikes will not withstand storm surges forever, the landscape scenario is based on a future imaginable situation. of which the phase with the maximal water level (+120cm) corresponds with the findings of the Delta commission (Delta commissie, 2008). At what moment these levels are reached and if these levels are reached at all are almost impossible to define. But even if the moment is not known, the landscape scenario can use the information and start realising an environment, which is prepared for these circumstances whenever they will occur.

	One project of province of Groningen has two scenarios called “Give Up” and “Sustain” for the future of climate change. We apply it for our city Amsterdam. The Give Up scenario describes the spatial future for the area in case of such a rapid sea level rise that continuation of occupation of the area is seen as too risky and a too costly option. A new natural development in the form of extended wetlands in front of a withdrawn, coastline will emerge, new forms of saline agriculture can be developed and the majority of the inhabitants live safely on the higher grounds. The other scenario, Sustain, starts from another point of view, namely that whatever the costs are, the society as we know it, must be sustained in the same area as it is now. This implies the development of a very robust and broad ‘superdike’, behind which society can continue their lives. The only thing that needs to be arranged in order to realize a climate adapted future is that behind the dike individual functions like nature, agriculture and water need to adapt themselves to higher temperatures and a changed precipitation regime.

	Due to the Amsterdam's historical and humanistic values, we prefer to take the second scenario. We hope the design for this regional landscape enhances the improvement of adaptation to climate change to a large extent and that it is possible to prepare a region for a long-term and uncertain future very well.

There will be a lack of fresh water, so we propose creating artificial lakes-rainfall colectors, with reed-bad filtration system where is possible.
