== Landscape and/or urban context of your case ==
The increasing urbanization and associated green spaces displacement enhances the desire for more plants in the city centres.
In several studies there was investigated that people can experience significant psychological improvements in greener cities.
Green spaces improve the well-being, health and mental health of people in cities.
The people in the town center of Landshut are still plagued by a green poverty, not only by urbanization, but especially by their history.
Landshut is an old historical Bavarian city, located in the Isar valley at the beginning of a range of hills,
embedded in the rural nature with forests, meadows and the river Isar.
In 2004 , the city of Landshut was eight hundred years old.
So Landshut has a medieval city center, which is nearby the river Isar and under the castle Trausnitz with the court garden.
Formerly this park was the garden of the castle. Castles and monasteries have always had a vegetable garden with fruit trees, vegetables and wine.
Basically medieval towns had very little green in the city center, because the center was only a place of action and sales.
Thus cultivated plantings were reserved for the nobility or the monks.
Gardens in city backyards were quite rare, too. Otherwise you could find agriculture outside the city.
In the transition to modern times, the middle class got rid of the tutelage by the nobility and was culture- determining.
So the court garden was formed in 1837 to a public park.
However, new plantings in the town centre were very rare to obtain the characteristics of the medieval city.

== What are the objectives of your design? ==

The common idea of the group was the development of a green space design concept based on the town Landshut. This concept includes four different views how a bare city could be planted.
Initial situation was a green corridor within the city as a link between the natural areas river and court garden.
The most plant species should be taken from the court garden or the river area.
Based on the background knowledge of the individual group members and the starting situation there will be developed four different concepts.

This case shows the relationship between human activity, like buildings or agriculture and the natural habitat around. This conflict of space betweeen buildings, agriculture and the habitat of plants and animals is very interessting and unique in the southern part of Germany.''

''Reichenau Island is the biggest island of the Lake of Constance. It is 4.5 km long and 1.5 km broud. This makes about 675 hectares. The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway. This causeway is 1.3 km long. The highest elevation is 43 meters above lake surface.
Today there are two different important means of income. One is the agriculture with all the vegetable farms and the other is tourism. 90 family runned businesses share the planting area of about 120 hectares. These family runned businesses guarantee the big variety of agricultural products. These are for example chives, cauliflower, cucumbers, salads or tomatos. The percentage of green houses is about 25 % or 40 hectares.
The second big mean of income - tourism - counts 200.000 accomodations per year and an uncountable number of day tourists on the small island. The island is famous for its vegetables but also for his world cultural hertitage, the Benedictine Abbey of Reichenau founded 724 AD. Agriculture and tourism dominate the island, but it is also an area for endangerd species which overwinter at the lake or spend their time in the reed all around the island. That means an extreme expansion pressure for the nature on the island.''

In my opinion the island hasn't enough variety. The population and the area for agricultural products has dynamicly grown to its status nowadays. But the nature, which is a big factor on the island is nowadays less important because the people live from the high fertile soil and their products. But on the other side, the potential of green tourism isn't developed at all. If the island was be more differential it could be earned more money with tourism. Therefore it would be good to have a green belt with connections, joining all parts of the island. This web could be built up of trees like poplar or meadows and bushes to create network to connect the different shores of the island.

''Reichenau Island is the biggest island of the Lake of Constance. It is 4.5 km long and 1.5 km broud. This makes about 675 hectares. The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway. This causeway is 1.3 km long. The highest elevation is 43 meters above lake surface.
Today there are two different important means of income. One is the agriculture with all the vegetable farms and the other is tourism. 90 family runned businesses share the planting area of about 120 hectares. These family runned businesses guarantee the big variety of agricultural products. These are for example chives, cauliflower, cucumbers, salads or tomatos. The percentage of green houses is about 25 % or 40 hectares.

''Reichenau Island is the biggest island of the Lake of Constance. It is 4.5 km long and 1.5 km broud. This makes about 675 hectares. The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway. This causeway is 1.3 km long. The highest elevation is 43 meters above lake surface.
Today there are two different important means of income. One is the agriculture with all the vegetable farms and the other is tourism. 90 family runned businesses share the planting area of about 120 hectares. These family runned businesses garantee the big variety of agriculture products. These are for example chives, cauliflower, cucumbers, salads or tomatos. The percentage of green houses is about 25 % or 40 hectares.
The second big mean of income the tourism counts 200.000 accomodations per year and an not countable number of day tourism on this small island. In my opinion the island haven't enough variety. The population and the area for agricultural products is dynamicly grown to its status nowadays. But the nature, which is a big factor on the island is nowadays less important because the people live from the high fertile soil and their products but on the other side, the potential of green tourism isn't developed at all. If the island would be more differential than I think they could earn more money with tourism. Therefore it could be good to have like a green web around the island. This web could be built up of trees and bushes. A network to connect the different shores of the island.

''Reichenau Island is the biggest island of the Lake of Constance. It is 4.5 km long and 1.5 km broud. This makes about 675 hectares. The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway. This causeway is 1.3 km long. The highest elevation is 43 meters above lake surface.
Today there are two different important means of income. One is the agriculture with all the vegetable farms and the other is tourism. 90 family runned businesses share the planting area of about 120 hectares. These family runned businesses garantee the big variety of agriculture products. These are for example chives, cauliflower, cucumbers, salads or tomatos. The percentage of green houses is about 25 % or 40 hectares.
The second big mean of income the tourism counts 200.000 accomodations per year and an not countable number of day tourism on this small island. The island is famous for its vegetables but also for his world cultural hertitage, which is an abbey which is founded in 724 aD. The case shows the difficulties between landscape, nature protection, preserving of monuments and the habitat of many species.
In my opinion the island haven't enough variety. The population and the area for agricultural products is dynamicly grown to its status nowadays. But the nature, which is a big factor on the island is nowadays less important because the people live from the high fertile soil and their products but on the other side, the potential of green tourism isn't developed at all. If the island would be more differential than I think they could earn more money with tourism. Therefore it could be good to have like a green web around the island. This web could be built up of trees and bushes. A network to connect the different shores of the island.

The case shows the difficulties between landscape, nature protection, preserving of monuments and the habitat of many species.
In my opinion the island haven't enough variety. The population and the area for agricultural products is dynamicly grown to its status nowadays. But the nature, which is a big factor on the island is nowadays less important because the people live from the high fertile soil and their products but on the other side, the potential of green tourism isn't developed at all. If the island would be more differential than I think they could earn more money with tourism. Therefore it could be good to have like a green web around the island. This web could be built up of trees and bushes. A network to connect the different shores of the island.

This case shows the relationship between human activity, like buildings or agriculture and the natural habitat around. This conflict of space betweeen buildings, agriculture and the habitat of plants and animals is very interessting and unique in the southern part of Germany.''

''Reichenau Island is the biggest island of the Lake of Constance. It is 4.5 km long and 1.5 km broud. This makes about 675 hectares. The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway. This causeway is 1.3 km long. The highest elevation is 43 meters above lake surface.
Today there are two different important means of income. One is the agriculture with all the vegetable farms and the other is tourism. 90 family runned businesses share the planting area of about 120 hectares. These family runned businesses garantee the big variety of agriculture products. These are for example chives, cauliflower, cucumbers, salads or tomatos. The percentage of green houses is about 25 % or 40 hectares.
The second big mean of income the tourism counts 200.000 accomodations per year and an not countable number of day tourism on this small island. The island is famous for its vegetables but also for his world cultural hertitage, which is an abbey which is founded in 724 aD. ''Reichenau Island is the biggest island of the Lake of Constance. It is 4.5 km long and 1.5 km broud. This makes about 675 hectares. The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway. This causeway is 1.3 km long. The highest elevation is 43 meters above lake surface.
Today there are two different important means of income. One is the agriculture with all the vegetable farms and the other is tourism. 90 family runned businesses share the planting area of about 120 hectares. These family runned businesses garantee the big variety of agriculture products. These are for example chives, cauliflower, cucumbers, salads or tomatos. The percentage of green houses is about 25 % or 40 hectares.
The second big mean of income the tourism counts 200.000 accomodations per year and an not countable number of day tourism on this small island. The case shows the difficulties between landscape, nature protection, preserving of monuments and the habitat of many species.
In my opinion the island haven't enough variety. The population and the area for agricultural products is dynamicly grown to its status nowadays. But the nature, which is a big factor on the island is nowadays less important because the people live from the high fertile soil and their products but on the other side, the potential of green tourism isn't developed at all. If the island would be more differential than I think they could earn more money with tourism. Therefore it could be good to have like a green web around the island. This web could be built up of trees and bushes. A network to connect the different shores of the island.

This case shows the relationship between human activity, like buildings or agriculture and the natural habitat around. This conflict of space betweeen buildings, agriculture and the habitat of plants and animals is very interessting and unique in the southern part of Germany.''

''Reichenau Island is the biggest island of the Lake of Constance. It is 4.5 km long and 1.5 km broud. This makes about 675 hectares. The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway. This causeway is 1.3 km long. The highest elevation is 43 meters above lake surface.
Today there are two different important means of income. One is the agriculture with all the vegetable farms and the other is tourism. 90 family runned businesses share the planting area of about 120 hectares. These family runned businesses garantee the big variety of agriculture products. These are for example chives, cauliflower, cucumbers, salads or tomatos. The percentage of green houses is about 25 % or 40 hectares.
The second big mean of income the tourism counts 200.000 accomodations per year and an not countable number of day tourism on this small island. The island is famous for its vegetables but also for his world cultural hertitage, which is an abbey which is founded in 724 aD. Agriculture and tourismn dominate the island, but it is also an area for endangerd species which overwinter at the lake or spend their time in the reed all around the island.That means an extreme expansion pressure for the nature on the island.''
