== Landscape and/or urban context of your case ==
*''Biogeography, cultural features, overall character, history and dynamics''
* This park is the main city park in Santiago de Compostela. It has an historical importance due to the growth and landscape style changes it had over the centuries. This style changes can be seen nowadays in the park if you have the capacity to identify landscape design styles.
* Illustration: Map; sketches; short descriptive analyses

== What are the objectives of your design? ==

''Please give a short written argumentation (not more than 150 words). The main idea to projecting in this park is to help the visitors identify the historical design style's changes all over the park. The visitor should be able to understand how the park grew, and how different styles (from different years) relate in the same place, and how they are sometimes mixed in a single park zone.''

== Analytical drawings ==
''Please add four analytical sketches/drawings (or montages/schemes) of your case. Every group member needs to contribute at least one drawing.''

<gallery caption="Analytical Drawings " widths="150px" heights="150px" perrow="4">
</gallery>

== Projective drawings ==
''Please add four projective sketches/drawings (or montages/schemes), of course with an emphasis on planting design/vegetation aspects. Every group member needs to contribute at least one drawing representing his/her individual ideas.''

<gallery caption="Projective Drawings " widths="150px" heights="150px" perrow="4">
</gallery>

== Design Synthesis ==
''Please analyse the individual approaches presented so far and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses (you may use the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SWOT_analysis SWOT]analysis model). Try to create a synthesis and represent it with a plan and some sketches. You can still use drawings/sketches.''

<gallery caption="Design Synthesis Drawings" widths="150px" heights="150px" perrow="4">

== Summary of the collaborative process ==
''Please reflect on your collaborative design process. Which potentials have you encountered? What was most difficult? What does collaborative design mean for you? (approx 150 words).''

== Image Gallery ==
''You may add a series of images/photos in addition to the sketches/drawings''

== Analytical drawings ==
''Please add four analytical sketches/drawings (or montages/schemes) of your case. Every group member needs to contribute at least one drawing.''
''Please add four projective sketches/drawings (or montages/schemes), of course with an emphasis on planting design/vegetation aspects. Every group member needs to contribute at least one drawing representing his/her individual ideas.''

Comments from group 20:
The diversity of cases became interesting. Seeing how each of you choose a Case that has different planting planning and use is interesting when is realized that ecology and natural space regeneration are the key unifying aspect of the three cases.

Personally, I couldn't hear what your opinion was on the relation between how each other analysed its Case and how they are related to one each other. (Sebastian Sanchez Napal, Case A).

== Rationale: Why is this case interesting? ==

This lookout allows to look at a different variety of city areas. It located on the top of "Cerro Campanario" (1050 m AMSL) that stands 200 meters above the city.
The sight is interesting in two main ways:
First, from the lookout you can see different areas of '''the city''' and you can see the surrounding '''National Park''' with its mountains, lakes and forests.
Second, the location and main aspect of any lookout should be a place designed by a Landscape Architect: Both '''WHAT''' you look and '''HOW''' you look at a scene are as important as '''WHERE''' you look at it.

* ''Why did you select it?''
I believe that seeing a part of a city at the same time that you see a natural landscape should be well planned view. How this city designs its plot planting design and how this urban plot interacts with the natural landscape, will bring a significant change in what the viewer sees, and how "beautiful" will consider the scene.
* ''Is it exemplary for a specific theme or a problem?''
I believe that user's perception may be a key feature in understanding the difference and interaction between city and natural reserve.

* ''In how far does it relate to your life?''
It slightly related to my life. The Case Study is located in my hometown.

== Author's perspective ==
I am related as a Landscape Architect, because I think lookout points and National Parks are both interesting cases of study and design.
I had the chance to study the main features of this Nahuel Huapi National Park, and different city areas on my Degree Thesis Project.

Taking into consideration that natural and anthropic planting may diverse in the overall order and native species selection.
-Could any effect of anthropic planting and non-native species selection change the "natural perception" of a landscape?
-How much can a natural landscape area could be changed before it is no longer perceived as "natural"?

== Landscape and/or urban context of your case ==
San Carlos de Bariloche is located inside the area of Nahuel Huapi National Park, though the city is not consider as part of it.
City's Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_carlos_de_bariloche

== Analytical drawings ==
''Schemes and maps that explain the user's view'
* ''Plot Density vs National Park and Natural Reserves''
* ''As it is shown in the maps and schemes, there's a fine line between the two areas. The low plot density may show a more evident planting design and therefore, can appear to be different from a "natural landscape". The "Really Low Density" may appear to be harder to differentiate from both, a Natural and a Low Plot Density''
* ''(More explaining maps and schemes below)''

<gallery caption="Area Mapping " widths="150px" heights="150px" perrow="4">
Image:Scheme-Natural-Reserve.jpg|Lookout Natural Reserve View
</gallery>

== Projective drawings ==
* ''Please add four projective sketches/drawings (or montages/schemes) for your case and take the following aspects into account:''
** ''How would you like this case to change in the near future? (in 1-2 years)
I consider that it is not likely to change in the close future, because urban developments and big landscape changes take more time than a few years. If it changes will be on very small areas and will not have a large effect on the overall scenery a visitor gets from the lookout.''
** ''And how could it look like in 10-15 years?''
For the larger time lapse, I believe that there are two possible and opposed cases.

First, (as seen on Future-1 image), the plot growth may '''not consider the natural aspects of the National Park''' that surrounds the city, increase the plot density, and transform the area in a ''''divided' landscape''', with a planting design that will follow the plot shape and not take into consideration the existing natural planting. Eventually this will be seen from the lookout as a scenery that is diverse from the National Park area. Also, this divided landscape may bring ecological problems due to lack of ecological connectivity between areas.

Second, on an opposed case (as seen on Future-2 image, the plot growth could take into consideration the natural existing areas, include them on the plot development and arrange larger size plots, resulting in a '''less divided landscape''', that allows the existing natural plantings to remain without much changes. This will be seen from the lookout as a landscape that is '''continued from Natural Areas to Urbanized Areas''' (but having increased the city size and population). Also, this could maintain the existing ecological connectivity and the existing native species.

<gallery caption="Projective Drawings " widths="150px" heights="150px" perrow="4">
Image:yourfilename4.jpg|projective drawing 4
</gallery>

== Summary and conclusion ==
''Please summarize your case and give arguments for your projective design (approx 150 words).''

== Image Gallery ==
''You may add a series of images/photos in addition to the sketches/drawings''

<gallery caption="Image Gallery" widths="150px" heights="150px" perrow="4">
For the larger time lapse, I believe that there are two possible and opposed developments. First, (as seen on Future-1 image), the plot density growth may n'''ot consider the natural aspects of the National Park''' that surrounds the city, and transform the area in a ''''divided' landscape''', with a planting design that will follow the plot shape and not take into consideration the existing natural planting. Eventually this will be seen from the lookout as a scenery that is diverse from the National Park area

<gallery caption="Projective Drawings " widths="150px" heights="150px" perrow="4">

== Author's perspective ==

It slightly related to my life. The Case Study is located in my birthtown.

== Author's perspective ==

''Schemes and maps that explain the user's view from the''
* ''Plot Density vs National Park and Natural Reserves''
* ''As it is shown in the maps and schemes, there's a fine line between the two areas. The low plot density may show a more evident planting design and therefore, can appear to be different from a "natural landscape". The "Really Low Density" may appear to be harder to differentiate from both, a Natural and a Low Plot Density''
* ''(More explaining maps and schemes below)''
== Projective drawings ==
* ''Please add four projective sketches/drawings (or montages/schemes) for your case and take the following aspects into account:''
** ''How would you like this case to change in the near future? (in 1-2 years)''
** ''And how could it look like in 10-15 years?''

* ''In how far does it relate to your life?''
It slightly related to my life. The Case Study is located in my birthtown.
I am also related as a Landscape Architect, because I think lookout points and National Parks are both interesting cases of study and design.

== Author's perspective ==
''From which professional background/perspective are your documenting this case?''

== Landscape and/or urban context of your case ==
*''Biogeography, cultural features, overall character, history and dynamics''
* Illustration: Map; sketches; short descriptive analyses

''Please add four analytical sketches/drawings (or montages/schemes) of your case and take the following aspects into account:''
* ''natural dynamic versus cultural framework - in how far do these two forces come together in your case?''
* ''dynamic through the year (you may imagine how the site looks in spring and summer, maybe you also remember it)''
== Rationale: Why is this case interesting?

* ''In how far does it relate to your life?''
It slightly related to my life. The Case Study is located in my birthtown.
I am also related as a Landscape Architect, because I think lookout points and National Parks are both interesting cases of study and design.

== Author's perspective ==
''From which professional background/perspective are your documenting this case?''

== Landscape and/or urban context of your case ==
*''Biogeography, cultural features, overall character, history and dynamics''
* Illustration: Map; sketches; short descriptive analyses

== Analytical drawings ==
''Please add four analytical sketches/drawings (or montages/schemes) of your case and take the following aspects into account:''
* ''natural dynamic versus cultural framework - in how far do these two forces come together in your case?''
* ''dynamic through the year (you may imagine how the site looks in spring and summer, maybe you also remember it)''
* ''highlight potentials and problems''

</gallery>

== Projective drawings ==
* ''Please add four projective sketches/drawings (or montages/schemes) for your case and take the following aspects into account:''
** ''How would you like this case to change in the near future? (in 1-2 years)''
** ''And how could it look like in 10-15 years?''
==Short Introduction to the Area of Study==

This case study is located in a residential area of Buenos Aires city.

On work days, a huge amount of people use the station: people who live in the neighbourhood and use the train line to go work downtown and people who live in the suburbs and work in commercial areas near the train station.

The train station and the railway, which run east-westwards, divide the urban plot and neighbourhood into two different areas: South side, mainly formed by maximum three-floor houses inhabited and North side, mainly formed by buildings up to 15 floors.

The station is only used as a circulation area and its vacant spaces’ potential are not exploited. It is also surrounded by public parks from which it has small connection with.

It is important for me because I live one block away, walk by the station every day and use the train station every other day.

== Exercise 1: Sketching the Landscape ==

'''Time frame: October 25 - November 15, 2011'''

'''''Student activities:'''''
* Creation of analytical drawings and sketches
* Presentation of results

== Exercise 2: Landscape Layers ==

'''Time frame: November 15 - 29, 2011'''
*time based changes and 'landscape biography', and/or:
* topography, open spaces, built, green, traffic and water structures on different layers. *Definition of zones with coherent character
*Description of this character.

<gallery caption=" " widths="150px" heights="150px" perrow="5">
Image:1-Belgrano R 1876.jpg|First historical layer: The railway and station is created.
Image:2-Belgrano R 1880-1910.jpg|Second historical layer: The neighbourhood starts to grow as a high class area.
Image:3-Belgrano R 1920-1960.jpg|Third historical layer: The growing continues with a new type consisted by a mid-class area.
Image:4-Belgrano R 1960-Present.jpg|Fourth historical layer: In the modern times the mid class area continues to grow, changing houses for buildings. The high class area continues very much the same, with minor changes.
Image:5-Belgrano R Influence.jpg|Station influence area and other nearby stations. This shows the nearby stations and the area in which the Belgrano R Train Station has influence over the general users, assuming that people will use the station is near to their house/workplace and the one they can get the easiest way.
Image:6-Belgrano R Parks.jpg|Nearby parks and its features. It considerate what people can use in the parks.
Image:7-Belgrano R Population.jpg|Neighbourhood's population density. Shows two different areas, as shown in the historical layers: The north side of the railway, formed by high buildings (10 to 20 floors high) which have many people living and therefore increasing the population density (shown as a red area). The south side formed by old big houses with large lots, which decrease the density (shown as a white area)
Image:9-Belgrano R General Zoom.jpg|First Station zoom: General disposition of the different areas that form the train station.

''Please publish your findings here''

== Exercise 3: Behaviour Patterns ==

'''Time frame: December 6 - 20, 2011'''
* How do people behave in this area? How do they use the space? What is important for them?
* Observation of study area, interviews with local people and mapping of use patterns.
* Preparation of short presentation

''Please publish your findings here''
<gallery caption=" " widths="150px" heights="150px" perrow="5">
Image:11-Belgrano R Pedestrian Behaviour.jpg|Pedestrian behaviour: Train station's users path, neighbourhood's paths, places of interest where people goes, places where people usually has to stop (level crossing places, bus stops, train platform, traffic light corners)
Image:10-Belgrano R Behaviour Zoom.jpg|Station zoom: Pedestrian behaviour in the station. Paths that users take to get in or out of the station.
Image:12-Belgrano R Traffic Behaviour.jpg|Traffic behaviour in the area: Main used streets. The railway level crossing streets available are the only ones that are marked, the others do not work as level crossing for cars.
</gallery>

== Exercise 4: Communication Concepts ==

'''Time frame: December 19, 2011 - January 17, 2012'''
* Based on the different landscape assessment approaches students will develop a communication concept for their area of study
* Which measures would be necessary for enhancing the awareness for the area?
* Students are free to choose their method.

-Sidewalk art gallery-
The Belgrano R Train Station behaviour analysis shows that people of the neighbourhood mainly uses the area to go from their homes, working places or other transportation systems, to the station and the way back. So, the neighbourhood’s streets are used mainly to get to the station and out of it.
Knowing this, the project looks for a way to increase awareness of the path people uses, and to make these different paths easy to identify.
To get this showed, the proposal is to create different art galleries on the sidewalks. Each path identified on the behaviour analysis will have different art styles, such as paintings, photography, sculptures, videos and graffities.
A walking-by art gallery will give people something to look at as they get to the station every day and will increase the awareness of the different paths they use and give the chance to follow another path, and so to get to see some other art styles.

Each path will have a unique design so that is easy to identify from the others: One colour each and different stands for the art with different shapes.

<gallery caption=" " widths="150px" heights="150px" perrow="5">
Image:Belgrano R Train Station 1.jpg|Overall project's paths disposition.
Image:Belgrano R Train Station 2.jpg|Different paths' art stands and characteristics.
Image:Belgrano R Train Station 3.jpg|Example images.
</gallery>

''Please publish your findings here''
==Short Introduction to the Area of Study==
