Heidelberg is a town situated on the River Neckar in south-west Germany. The fifth-largest town in the State of Baden-Württemberg after Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Mannheim and Freiburg im Breisgau, Heidelberg is part of the densely populated Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region.
Heidelberg is in the Rhine Rift Valley, on the left bank of the lower part of the River Neckar in a steep valley in the Odenwald. It is bordered by the Königsstuhl (568 m) and the Gaisberg (375 m) mountains. The River Neckar here flows in an east-west direction.
Since Heidelberg is among the warmest regions of Germany, plants atypical of the central-European climate flourish there, including almond and fig trees; there is also an olive tree in Gaisbergstraße.

US Hospital
The area of the US Hospital is located in the south of Rohrbach at the Karlsruhe street. It was the hospital for the army people and their families living in Heidelberg, Mannheim, Worms and Karlsruhe.
The US Hospital is the smallest area for redevelopment. 1,8 ha are built up. The basic structure and functionallity of the buildings are mostly directed with the hospital operations. Two buildings on the east, the former sporthall and theater are buildings to be conserved.
The area is very easilly accessible with the individual and public transport. Currently the area is accissible from Karlsruhe, Freiburger and Kolbenzeil streets.

== What are the overall objectives of your design? What are the specific objectives for enhancing green infrastrucutre? ==

*Currently the area is a dead zone.Nobody is allowed to enter in it and the building are in a bad shape needing demolition and improvement interventions. So the main objective is to turn the area in a vital zone that will serve the city and its residents. The interventions and the changes should be done according Green Infrastructure principles. So connectivity, multi functionality and sustainability are the 3 main goals. New roads will penetrate the zone in order to connect and integrate it with the city. Therefore the zone will not be anymore an island in the city but will be part of it. The area contains historic values that need to be retain and reinforced. So a museum area will be created and some buildings will be adapted to contain new functions. Functions like dormitory, housing,cinema, sport facilities, museum will characterize the zone in order to fulfill the multi functionality aspect of Green Infrastructure. Green spaces and a park will be created in the zone in order to create a sustainable environment.

In the are are not done the necessary interventions and the zone especially in the south of the lake is in bad conditions. I think that with a well organized study and a serious work the south lake area can be converted in a zone with many potential related green infrastructure. There can be developed an environment containing many attributes like multifunctional, sustainable, health, economic etc.

I have lived for 5 years in Tirana during my studies and visiting the park and the lake was very common for students.

It includes an artificial lake and many Landmarks such as the Saint Procopius Church, Amphitheater,a zoo,a botanical garden, memorials of well known Albanian personalities...The park was built between 1955-1956 based on a Bulgarian plan.It was built by a voluntary work of many peoples. The park is located 122 m above see level. The park is one of the main attractions of Tirana, the capital of Albania.

The first residents in this zone according to historian Kristo Frasheri in his study "The History of Tirana" has been a Vlach community. Until the end of the 19 century the are was known as the Stan of Goge. The only remaining trace of them are the typical surnames like Shundi, Hobdalli, Voilla, Nishku. Last years the park has suffered extensively from problems of litter and pollutants and crime has also been reported in the area. In 2005 Tirana's Municipality organized the Green Fair, where major ideas were collected as how to fully rehabilitate the park. In 2008 a lakeside competition was held to come up with the best urban and ecologic masterplan for the future of the district, to create a new dense urban neighborhood with a park and public facilities at the shore of Tirana Lake. The masterplan consists of 225,000 m2 of housing, 60,000 m2 offices, 20,000 m2 public buildings, 60,000 m2 retail, 15,000 m2 of hotels and 20,000 m2 sport and recreational facilities and a car park. I think that with a well organized study and a serious work the south lake area can be converted in a zone with many potential related green infrastructure. This park is the main park and is very important for it and for the community. During the week especially in weekend many persons visited it.This site has green infrastructure potential because can offer many possibility in different aspects. In the are are not done the necessary interventions and the zone especially in the south of the lake is in bad conditions. I think that with a well organized study and a serious work the south lake area can be converted in a zone with many potential related green infrastructure. There can be developed an environment containing many attributes like multifunctional, sustainable, health, economic etc.

The Tirana Park on the Artificial Lake or the Big Park of Tirana (Albanian: Parku i Madh), or even the Park of Saint Procopius (Albanian: Parku i Shën Prokopit), is a 230-hectare public park situated on the southern part of Tirana, Albania. It includes an artificial lake and many other landmarks such as the Saint Procopius Church, the Presidential Palace of Tirana, and memorials to well known Albanian personalities.

I think that with a well organized study and a serious work the south lake area can be converted in a zone with many potential related green infrastructure. Historically the Big Park at the Artificial Lake has been a focal point for residents of Tirana and the cites nearby. I have lived for 5 years in Tirana during my studies and visiting the park and the lake was very common for students.

The Tirana Park on the Artificial Lake or the Big Park of Tirana (Albanian: Parku i Madh), or even the Park of Saint Procopius (Albanian: Parku i Shën Prokopit), is a 230-hectare public park situated on the southern part of Tirana, Albania. It includes an artificial lake and many other landmarks such as the Saint Procopius Church, the Presidential Palace of Tirana, and memorials to well known Albanian personalities.
Tirana's artificial lake and park remains one of the most relaxing places of the capital. Despite increasing buildings being developed near (and sometimes in) the park, an early-morning run or promenade is a daily routines for many Tirana citizens.To the southern end of the park there is the city zoo and the botanical garden. The latter includes many flowers and plants that are common the Albanian environment.

There are many inhabitants in this zone that connect with the other part of the city through the west side of the city.The development of the south side of the lake will create new bridge connections into the city. The all perimeter of the lake will be frequented and not only the north part which is the current situation today. The shore of the lake will not be divided into two parts anymore. Connectivity will be the main focus of this project.

The zone chosen for study is Tirana big park and artificial Lake. Tirana is a city that does not have many green spaces. This park is the main park and is very important for it and for the community. During the week especially in weekend many persons visited it.This site has green infrastructure potential because can offer many possibility in different aspects. In the are are not done the necessary interventions and the zone especially in the south of the lake is in bad conditions. I think that with a well organized study and a serious work the south lake area can be converted in a zone with many potential related green infrastructure. There can be developed an environment containing many attributes like multifunctional, sustainable, health, economic etc.

I have studied Architecture at Polytechnic University of Tirana, Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU) Albania.I have a Master of Science degree in Architecture. Historically the Big Park at the Artificial Lake has been a focal point for residents of Tirana and the cites nearby. I have lived for 5 years in Tirana during my studies and visiting the park and the lake was very common for students.

The Tirana Park on the Artificial Lake or the Big Park of Tirana (Albanian: Parku i Madh), or even the Park of Saint Procopius (Albanian: Parku i Shën Prokopit), is a 230-hectare public park situated on the southern part of Tirana, Albania. It includes an artificial lake and many other landmarks such as the Saint Procopius Church, the Presidential Palace of Tirana, and memorials to well known Albanian personalities.
Tirana's artificial lake and park remains one of the most relaxing places of the capital. Despite increasing buildings being developed near (and sometimes in) the park, an early-morning run or promenade is a daily routines for many Tirana citizens.To the southern end of the park there is the city zoo and the botanical garden. The latter includes many flowers and plants that are common the Albanian environment.

The park was built between 1955 and 1956 based on a Bulgarian plan and used to be called the Gogo stable, in a green area. There are many inhabitants in this zone that connect with the other part of the city through the west side of the city.The development of the south side of the lake will create new bridge connections into the city. The all perimeter of the lake will be frequented and not only the north part which is the current situation today. The shore of the lake will not be divided into two parts anymore. Connectivity will be the main focus of this project.

The zone chosen for study is Tirana big park and artificial Lake. Tirana is a city that does not have many green spaces. This park is the main park and is very important for it and for the community. During the week especially in weekend many persons visited it.This site has green infrastructure potential because can offer many possibility in different aspects. In the are are not done the necessary interventions and the zone especially in the south of the lake is in bad conditions. I think that with a well organized study and a serious work the south lake area can be converted in a zone with many potential related green infrastructure. There can be developed an environment containing many attributes like multifunctional, sustainable, health, economic etc.

I have studied Architecture at Polytechnic University of Tirana, Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU) Albania.I have a Master of Science degree in Architecture. Historically the Big Park at the Artificial Lake has been a focal point for residents of Tirana and the cites nearby. I have lived for 5 years in Tirana during my studies and visiting the park and the lake was very common for students.

The Tirana Park on the Artificial Lake or the Big Park of Tirana (Albanian: Parku i Madh), or even the Park of Saint Procopius (Albanian: Parku i Shën Prokopit), is a 230-hectare public park situated on the southern part of Tirana, Albania. It includes an artificial lake and many other landmarks such as the Saint Procopius Church, the Presidential Palace of Tirana, and memorials to well known Albanian personalities.
Tirana's artificial lake and park remains one of the most relaxing places of the capital. Despite increasing buildings being developed near (and sometimes in) the park, an early-morning run or promenade is a daily routines for many Tirana citizens.To the southern end of the park there is the city zoo and the botanical garden. The latter includes many flowers and plants that are common the Albanian environment.

The zone chosen for study is Tirana big park and artificial Lake. Tirana is a city that does not have many green spaces. This park is the main park and is very important for it and for the community. During the week especially in weekend many persons visited it.This site has green infrastructure potential because can offer many possibility in different aspects. In the are are not done the necessary interventions and the zone especially in the south of the lake is in bad conditions. I think that with a well organized study and a serious work the south lake area can be converted in a zone with many potential related green infrastructure. There can be developed an environment containing many attributes like multifunctional, sustainable, health, economic etc.

Historically the Big Park at the Artificial Lake has been a focal point for residents of Tirana and the cites nearby. I have lived for 5 years in Tirana during my studies and visiting the park and the lake was very common for students.

The Tirana Park on the Artificial Lake or the Big Park of Tirana (Albanian: Parku i Madh), or even the Park of Saint Procopius (Albanian: Parku i Shën Prokopit), is a 230-hectare public park situated on the southern part of Tirana, Albania. It includes an artificial lake and many other landmarks such as the Saint Procopius Church, the Presidential Palace of Tirana, and memorials to well known Albanian personalities.
Tirana's artificial lake and park remains one of the most relaxing places of the capital. Despite increasing buildings being developed near (and sometimes in) the park, an early-morning run or promenade is a daily routines for many Tirana citizens.To the southern end of the park there is the city zoo and the botanical garden. The latter includes many flowers and plants that are common the Albanian environment.

The zone chosen for study is Tirana big park and artificial Lake. Tirana is a city that does not have many green spaces. This park is the main park and is very important for it and for the community. During the week especially in weekend many persons visited it.This site has green infrastructure potential because can offer many possibility in different aspects. In the are are not done the necessary interventions and the zone especially in the south of the lake is in bad conditions. I think that with a well organized study and a serious work the south lake area can be converted in a zone with many potential related green infrastructure. There can be developed an environment containing many attributes like multifunctional, sustainable, health, economic etc.

Historically the Big Park at the Artificial Lake has been a focal point for residents of Tirana and the cites nearby. I have lived for 5 years in Tirana during my studies and visiting the park and the lake was very common for students.

The Tirana Park on the Artificial Lake or the Big Park of Tirana (Albanian: Parku i Madh), or even the Park of Saint Procopius (Albanian: Parku i Shën Prokopit), is a 230-hectare public park situated on the southern part of Tirana, Albania. It includes an artificial lake and many other landmarks such as the Saint Procopius Church, the Presidential Palace of Tirana, and memorials to well known Albanian personalities.
Tirana's artificial lake and park remains one of the most relaxing places of the capital. Despite increasing buildings being developed near (and sometimes in) the park, an early-morning run or promenade is a daily routines for many Tirana citizens.To the southern end of the park there is the city zoo and the botanical garden. The latter includes many flowers and plants that are common the Albanian environment.
