== Rationale: Why is this case interesting? ==

I selected Elche and its palm palm groves because it is the landscape of the city where I lived most of my life and also during my years at university was the place where I used to work on the projects we were doing and I have spent many hours thinking about this landscape .

The palm groves of Elche is listed as a World Heritage Site by Unesco . At first the function of this palm was agricultural . They were raised as a natural greenhouse system at the time of the Arab town . Regulating the temperature of the land and this allowed the plantation.

This function is the one that determined its shape. Looking at a map of the city we realize that much of the palm is a structure of grids that lower left in plantation areas .

In the 60s , when the city began to develop, propose this idea keep within the structure of the city. Although he no longer has the agricultural function held in his erected think it is a good example of integration with the city and now is the lung of the city .

Currently there are different proposals to re- raise them as urban gardening activity or create routes that visit .
