== Short Introduction to the Area of Study ==
''The study area covers the pedestrian and bike path running underneath the J.F Kennedy bridge, stretching along the east bank of the Maas river ending at a government building in Maaspuntweg 38.

The overall area is rather intricate, it includes private and public buildings with diverse functions, I shall focus on the pedestrian and bike path running throughout the area.
There are some interesting features that could increase the public use of the site, however with the current settings those are not put into real values. One of the major factors is the presence of a government building, which take a large portion of the surface imposing certain restrictions over it, such as lack of directions, lights and proper distinction between sidewalk and bike path.

The study area covers approximately 7'600 square metres.
Image:111213_Pictograms_Maps-1.jpg|This first set of two maps, shows the transport methods used in the area. People move by bike, boat, car. Even though the area is mainly used as gateway to the city centre, it also includes some import an business centers, such as the Governmental buildings and a large private company.
Image:111213_Pictograms_Maps-2.jpg|The second set of maps, shows how people move around the area according to different purposes. Many joggers run along the path, as per dog walkers or people having a stroll. There are also areas where to rest and look at the view, mainly used by families with children.
Image:111213_Pictograms_Maps-3.jpg|This large open field is a remain of the old countryside. Part of the field is occasionally occupied with cattle. Most of the area is used by joggers or bikers. During summer time people can enjoy the river Maas. The area is not very accessible as the paths are not cleared out and very often muddy.
The Historical analysis is very clear and covers a big part of the City's history. Perhaps you could modify the images to include the study case area in the historical images ?
I think it can be interesting even if the images are not too detailed.

Dear Pio,

I agree with Alexandro's comment from above, but since the time is running, it might not be feasibly anymore to add this information. Still it would be nice if you would give some information at which time this area has changed moste intensively.

Thanks for the elevations, this makes very clear that there are different levels between the built structure, traffic, open space and the river. I was not aware of this before. There is presumably a very different ambiance in all of these levels.

Was it the first time for you to reflect about the world war II destruction of a city? I would imagine this being a new experience for someone from outside Europe.

You refer to the new development east of this area. Did you have a look at the proposed landscape design by Vogt landscape architects? Will it bring new elements to the area along the river compared to the old part?

Interesting work, best wishes

Ellen
----
Dear Pio,

I like your concept!
It's an original way to attract people's attention towards a public space.
The second slide is very well done, the concept is explained in a clear and easy layout.
Perhaps I would insert a small map of the area with a small dot or circle representing the installation.

Well done!

Dear Alessandro, good work, Greetings, Ellen

== Layer Analysis ==

Dear Alessandro, your analysis is very clear and it is a very good idea to show first the structures of Maastricht as a whole and then get into detail with your area. I guess you have received good data from the office. I am wondering about the big bridge west of your area - is it for traffic only or are pedestrians able to cross it? I think the river Maas could give a good impression from there.

There seems to be another green area starting over the bridge to the west. So in terms of green connections - can people go by bike through you area, then cross the bridge and enter this other green area to got into the direction of the city center?

Did you find any information about how the area looked like 100 years ago? Maybe green land with cows?

What is your interpretation from these layers - did you identify anything new?

Best wishes

Ellen

------------------------------------------

Dear Ellen,

Thank you for the feedback.
I did not collect much data from the office, the work is the outcome of my personal perception of the area. I tried to gather some old maps, however most images were a general representation of the whole city, the area was not well represented in the past. I tried to work better on the bridge's traffic in the Behaviour pattern assignment, in fact it is heavily used by cars, therefore there is no enjoyment of the beautiful view!

I included the green area you mentioned in the Behaviour pattern exercise. As you can see from the map and especially the movie the area is linked to my area, however it seem to be poorly used, at least in winter time.
Overall I can say that the green environment is better developed in the old part of the city. It seems that the part surrounding my area went through a troubled planning time, the good part is that there's lot of space for improvement. Concerning the river Maas I have the impression is poorly used for everyday recreational purposes. The traffic layer shows a good planning of the city but a rather complicated one for the area I chose.

Best wishes,

Ale.

The Historical analysis is very clear and covers a big part of the City's history. Perhaps you could modify the images to include the study case area in the historical images ?
I think it can be interesting even if the images are not too detailed.
